On the most literal level, Crossing the Horizon is about UFO abduction. At the same time, the opera enacts a journey of archetypal significance: The characters must face the presence of a powerful and unexplainable force in order to become whole.

 "Spring" explores the question of what is born anew in the spring and what does not survive the winter. "Dwelling-place" places you at rest beneath the earth; vegetation and life overhead become your life.
